Robert Williams holds an MA in Modern and Medieval Languages from the University of Cambridge (1977) and gained a Distinction in the Technical and Specialised Translation Diploma at the Polytechnic of Central London (1978). After working for six years as an in-house translator at the Ministry of Defence, he went freelance in 1985 and has since specialised in medicine and pharmaceutics, the environment, annual reports and EU documentation, as well as Swedish Government reports. He translates from Swedish, Danish, Dutch and German. He is a founder member of the ITI and has been a qualified member of the Swedish Association of Professional Translators (SFÖ) since 1994, serving on its Board from 2006 to 2010.
